A successful tennis entrepreneur with an impressive tennis background as an accomplished player as well as a coach in the United States and Southeast Asia.

In 1980 George founded a tennis organization in the San Francisco-Bay Area called Tennis in Marin. George continues to direct and oversee Tennis in Marin's two tennis clubs, two pro shops, adult and junior tennis programs for six cities on 65 courts, and a staff of 8+ tennis professionals.

He is the regional Director of U.S. Professionals Tennis Association (U.S. PTA) in the San Francisco-Bay Area. At the same time, George has expanded his tennis expertise to Southeast Asia by founding Sports Development Asia (SDA), a company that develops and administers summer sports camp within the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

George began playing tennis at an early age through the public park system in Cleveland, Ohio. During high school, George began his tennis career, and he achieved success at the state level. After graduation, he played for a local junior college team and qualified for the Nationals. George's tennis proficiency earned him a tennis scholarship at East Tennessee State University (ETSU), NCAA Division I. During his senior year at ETSU, George and his team won the Ohio Valley Conference championship.

George graduated with a B.S. in Marketing and joined John Newcombe's Tennis Ranch, the highly recognized tennis center in Texas, as a full-time tennis professional. George quickly rose to the title of Adult Program Director and was chosen for the traveling team that taught tennis clinics throughout the U.S. and Central America.

Having played international satellite circuits in Thailand, South Africa, and India, George received an ATP world ranking of #659 singles and #575 doubles. He oversaw junior development for the Hong Kong Tennis Association and assisted with training of the Davis Cup team. He has marketed Prince products in Thailand and has conducted tennis clinics in Burma.

USPTA teaching pro Erik Johansson, now in his 13th year as Director of Tennis at Canon swim and Tennis Club and Owner/Operator of Tennis in Marin, gives private and group lessons, specialized clinics and coaches the club teams.

Beginning and intermediate students respond to Erik’s insight, patience and skill in moving quickly toward their goals while advanced players seek out Erik to hone technique and elevate their games.

Erik is committed to the community in which he serves. He has a long history of dedication to the development of young players in Marin County, many of whom have gone on to be excellent high school players and college players. He is a USTA Certified Schools Clinician, runs USTA quick start programs designed for boys and girls 4 to 10 years old, and co-directs the Redwood and Tam High School District summer camps.

He regularly offers the courts at Canon Swim & Tennis Club for Drake High School’s boys tennis team home matches and his free tennis lessons for students of Whitehill school in Fairfax annually draws over 400 kids during its two week run, many of whom are discovering the game for the first time.

He is a founding Board Member of the North Bay Junior Tennis Association which has established a circuit of tournaments in the North Bay so kids interested in tennis can play tournaments locally without having to travel long distances. Erik serves as Tournament Director for the two junior tournaments held at Canon each year.

As operator of Tennis in Marin, Erik oversees the public court tennis programs for six Marin County cities, managing staffing, scheduling, league play and tournaments. He is a Babalot Professional Team Member, Certified Racket Technician, and owner of the Canon Swim & Tennis Club Pro Shop.

Tom Sadzeck has been teaching tennis to students of all ages for the past 20 years. Most of this time has been spent teaching programs with Tennis In Marin such as; junior and adult group clinics, tournaments, and league play. Tom has spent 15 years as Director of Tennis Camps at various facilities throughout Marin County and is currently Director of the Marin County Junior Tennis League, and is the head coach of the 8th grade and under team at Piper Park in Larkspur. His greatest enjoyment comes from the relationships he achieves over a long period of time with his junior players. “I’ve had numerous students whom I am grateful to have had the pleasure of teaching tennis, and life, from a very early age right up through High School and into College. What more could a teacher/coach ask for than to leave a positive lasting impression on a young person’s adolescent development?” Tom is the author of three tennis books including his most successful, “Tennis Skills” which has sold over 44,000 copies worldwide. Tom has also written articles for “Tennis” and “Addvantage” magazines, and has lectured on junior tennis for USPTA conferences. He is currently registered as “Pro 1” with the USPTA and has been a member for the past 19 years. Tom lives in San Rafael with his wife Kaylin and their two boys, Parker, and Toby.

Leo Giraldi was born and raised in the French Riviera where he picked up his first racket at age 14. He fell in love with the game and by his mid 20's he was training with and under the supervision of Davis Cup players.

Leo has been working as a full-time coach for over 10 years with Tennis In Marin running adults and junior programs. He is currently teaching adult programs in Larkspur, San Anselmo and Ross. Leo has been training top high school players with great success.

Leo has also worked at the Lagunitas Country Club in Ross, Canon Tennis Club in Fairfax, San Domenico School in San Anselmo and at Nike Tennis camp in Tahoe City.

Leo's teaching style is energetic, interactive and fun! He believes in adapting his instruction to each individual's potential and capitalizing on every player's strengths.

*Certified PTR Professional Level, with 30 years of teaching/coaching experience.
Mauro is native of Brazil, born in a tennis family, plays since he was 5 yrs old. He was a ranked Jr., played Sanctioned Sao Paulo State and Nationals Tournaments from 1974 to79, inter-clubs leagues, inter-cities games. After winning several titles as a Junior, Mauro went on to play College Tennis at the University of Sao Paulo, got his Bachelors degree in Physical Education in 1983. During the 4 college years, Mauro taught part-time doing the Brazilian tennis-night-shift, from 6>10pm, at various clubs and academies in Sao Paulo City, to start having teaching experiences even before graduating. Afterwards.Mauro then taught in Sao Paulo City still, at a prestigious Club for 2 years, then, at the best academy there was…when he realized he wanted to learn more! He then moved to the USA in 1987, and started at Rick Macci’s Academy, where at the time young Jennifer Capriati was one of the full-time in-living Juniors there. Following, Mauro did a couple summer camps at Carlos Goffi’s Tournment Tough Camp,“Strictly for Ranked Players”,in which he was the Head Pro and Camp Coordinator. From 1987 till 2005, Mauro had positions of Jr.Director, Head Pro and Tennis Director up and down the US East Coast, from Miami & Tampa up to Boston & Cape Cod, then down to South Carolina Beach, then NYCity & The Hamptons. After many different experiences gathered, the time came for him to follow an old dream of living in California, so he then moved cross-country to San Francisco Bay in 2005, to help a good’ol friend Tennis Director to install the Jr.program and contribute to the adults, at his club. Mauro then got invited to join a tennis site, and has since been working on it, at first re-editing all done before him, and now it’s his turn.His new tennis venture, to share his knowledge and method, and try to help the tennis games of all tennis people within reach, through the internet, joint-partnership @ Blog http://thetennisvault.com (check Recent Posts:“Who the Heck is Mauro Marcos and why should you care…”)
While working on his internet instructional project, Mauro has also been part of our staff at Tennis in Marin since 2008, in charge of the Corte Madera Junior and Adult Clinics, and also available for private and semi-private lessons. We’re glad to have him aboard.

Diane is a native of San Francisco and comes from a tennis family.  She started playing competitive tennis at 10 years old as a ranked junior in Northern California and continued playing varsity tennis at UC Davis.  She and her team won the College Nationals in Singles, Doubles and the team event.  Since then, she has continued to play competitively on a local level and is currently rated 5.0 through the USTA.

Diane teaches tennis at Mt. Tam Racquet Club, Bay Club Ross Valley and Tennis in Marin (Memorial Park) and she believes in teaching “Tennis for Life”.   She teaches classic stroke production and game strategy to allow her students to be competitive in the game of tennis.  She uses a lot of visual cues to help her students grasp new concepts quickly so the game is enjoyable and a good challenge for life!
